About About Proteus – History

Founded in 1985 by Jim Marland, Proteus has been a leader for over 22 years in the field of replica and other sports cars. Perhaps most famous for the re-creation of the Jaguar C-Type but also notably the Jaguar D-Type, Jaguar XKSS, Jaguar XJ13, Mercedes 300 SLR and Jaguar XK120 Lightweight.

Around 270 cars have been built in total and the Company is founded on engineering excellence and superb craftsmanship. Proteus’s cars are today some of the most valuable re-creations of these iconic sports cars.

The Company was purchased in 2008 by its current owners and the team is totally dedicated to continuing to develop Proteus and has made major investments into tooling and manufacturing facilities to strongly underpin the business for the future. Jim Marland has rejoined the company as a technical consultant working on special projects.

The resurgence of interest in historic sports car racing has led Proteus now to offer a "Racing Specification" to its product range thus supporting the growing band of club racers around the world
